Pakistan, Jan. 26 -- Minister of State for Climate Change Dr Shezra Mansab Ali Khan Kharal on Sunday stressed that Pakistan's energy transition has reached a decisive stage where economic stability and climate obligations must advance together, as continued reliance on coal has become a financial and trade liability for the country.

Addressing the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) webinar on Consultative Discussion on Economics of Repurposing Coal-Fired Power, the minister said Pakistan's dependence on coal is affecting households, industry and export competitiveness, particularly as global climate regulations tighten, said a press release.
