China will display domestically made advanced military equipment for the first time during a parade on September 3, highlighting its "powerful capability to achieve victory in modern warfare," officials said.

The parade will commemorate 80 years since the end of World War II, with President Xi Jinping inspecting troops at Beijing's Tiananmen Square, while Russian President Vladimir Putin and other global leaders are expected to attend.

China remembers the millions of citizens who died during the long war against Japanese forces in the 1930s and 1940s, which later became part of the global conflict after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941.
