Pakistan, July 7 -- China has strongly rebuked U.S. President Donald Trump's threat to impose an additional 10% tariff on countries that align with BRICS' "anti-American" policies. Trump announced the tariff threat following the BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro (July 6-7, 2025), where the group rebuked unilateral tariffs and military actions against Iran and Israel.

A spokesperson for China's Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, condemned the move at a press briefing on Monday. She emphasized that "the use of tariffs serves no one", warning against using tariffs as political weapons. She reiterated China's support for openness, multilateral trade, and the view that "there are no winners in a trade war".
