Pakistan, July 7 -- China has strongly rebuked U.S. President Donald Trump's threat to impose an additional 10% tariff on countries that align with BRICS' "anti-American" policies. Trump announced the tariff threat following the BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro (July 6-7, 2025), where the group rebuked unilateral tariffs and military actions against Iran and Israel.
A spokesperson for China's Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, condemned the move at a press briefing on Monday. She emphasized that "the use of tariffs serves no one", warning against using tariffs as political weapons.
