Pakistan, June 26 -- ISLAMABAD - The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will hold a meeting today (Thursday) to sight the Muharram moon, signaling the start of the new Islamic year. Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar and holds deep religious importance for Muslims worldwide.
The meeting will take place at the deputy commissioner's office in Quetta. Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad will preside over the session and oversee the moon sighting process.
At the same time, zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal Committees across the country will also gather at their respective offices to observe the moon. The final confirmation will come from Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad.
