Pakistan, July 25 -- Despite a sharp increase in vehicle prices, car and motorcycle registrations witnessed a strong surge during the 2024-25 fiscal year. Car registrations rose by 30%, while motorcycle registrations increased by 20%, compared to the 2023-24 fiscal year, according to the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department. This rise shows growing demand despite economic challenges.
A total of 1.05 million motorcycles and 139,000 cars were officially registered during 2024-25. In contrast, only 800,000 motorcycles and 92,000 cars were registered in 2023-24. This growth highlights a shift in transportation preferences among citizens and an increasing reliance on personal vehicles amid urban expansion.
