Pakistan, Aug. 8 -- The Sindh Cabinet has taken a major decision by designating the Environment, Climate Change and Coastal Development Department as the lead provincial authority for carbon market and carbon financing initiatives. The decision has been taken under Article 6 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and in line with the Government of Pakistan's 2024 policy guidelines on carbon market trading.

Under this initiative, Sindh will be able to access international financial resources in return for implementing environment-friendly measures.
