DHAKA, Jan. 15 -- The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has removed board director Najmul Islam following controversial remarks that sparked player protests. Cricketers had threatened to boycott matches after Islam claimed Bangladesh would not compensate players if they skipped the T20 World Cup in India.
Najmul Islam, chairman of the BCB's finance committee, had said the board spends large sums on players despite poor performances and would not seek refunds from them. He argued that missing the World Cup would hurt players financially, but not the board.
