Pakistan, July 8 -- DHAKA - After last year's protests toppled Bangladesh's government, the country has shifted closer to China, sparking growing tensions with neighboring India. The ousting of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who fled to India, has deepened resentment in Dhaka toward New Delhi.
The interim government, led by Muhammad Yunus, faces the difficult task of rebuilding democratic institutions while managing strained relations with India. Yunus said popular anger in Bangladesh has transferred to India, especially since Hasina remains a fugitive facing a trial for crimes against humanity.
China has welcomed Bangladesh's new leaders warmly. Yunus's first state visit in March resulted in $2.1 billion in investments and aid. B...
