Pakistan, June 1 -- DHAKA - Bangladesh's Supreme Court has reinstated the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami, the country's largest Islamist party, allowing it to participate in future elections after more than a decade-long ban.
The court's decision, announced on Sunday, overturned a 2013 High Court order that had cancelled the party's registration under the previous Sheikh Hasina-led government. This ruling comes just days after the same court overturned a war crimes conviction against senior Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam on May 27.
