QUETTA, Jan. 20 -- Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti on Tuesday said the longstanding missing persons issue in the province has been "resolved on a permanent basis," asserting that political elements had previously exploited the matter for votes.

CM Bugti made the remarks on his X account after chairing a provincial cabinet meeting. "Various people only played politics on the issue of missing persons, blamed the state, and tried to get votes. We have resolved it for the first time," he wrote. He added that law enforcement agencies now have a legal framework to investigate suspects and that the state can no longer be blamed for missing individuals.
