SRINAGAR, July 6 -- Authorities in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir have once again enforced a ban on the traditional Ashura procession in Srinagar, denying mourners the right to mark 10th Muharram along the historic route.

The decades-old procession from Abi Guzar to Zadibal remains restricted since its ban in 1989 by then-Governor Jagmohan. Despite fresh requests from mourners to allow a modified route from Bota Kadal to Zadibal, the Senior Superintendent of Police rejected it outright.

However, the District Magistrate gave conditional approval for a limited alternative path, passing through Alipora Chowk, Mohalla Syed Afzal Lane, Shiribhat, Alamgari Bazar, and Gassiyar Chowk, ending at Imambara Zadibal. Still, the imposed conditions...
