Pakistan, July 12 -- The idea of Mother Mary took its toll on Anne Hathaway. In fact, the role-which sees Anne embody a pop star-in the A24 film marked quite a departure for the Princess Diaries star. And for director David Lowery, that intensity is exemplified in a pivotal scene which strained both Anne and her costar Michaela Coel.
"It felt like shooting Apocalypse Now," David told Vogue as part of an interview published July 9. "At one point Annie broke down and said, 'I have to apologise, because I think what's going to come out of me will hurt you.' And Michaela took her hands and said, 'I love you, I trust you.'"
