Pakistan, July 21 -- An Air India flight from Kochi to Mumbai veered off the runway during landing on Monday amid heavy rainfall, damaging the aircraft's engine and briefly shutting down the airport's main runway. The Airbus A320neo, operating as flight AI2744, experienced a runway excursion that also caused three of its tyres to burst, according to Indian media reports.
All passengers and crew members safely disembarked following the incident, Air India confirmed. However, the airline did not clarify whether there were any injuries. The aircraft has now been grounded for detailed inspection and necessary safety checks. Video footage shared by local media showed visible damage to the outer casing of the engine, including cracks.
