Pakistan, Oct. 22 -- The latest ceasefire announcement between Pakistan and Afghanistan offers a fragile pause in what has become one of the most dangerous border escalations in recent years. According to official statements reported by international media, both sides have agreed to halt cross-border hostilities along the Durand Line following mediation by Qatar and Turkiye. However, Islamabad has made it clear that any lasting truce will depend on the Afghan Taliban's ability - and willingness - to curb the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other armed groups operating from its soil.
