In Afghanistan, many women are now losing their only source of income and education after authorities banned fibre-optic internet in several provinces, citing the prevention of "immoral activities." The ban has severely disrupted thousands of homes, businesses, and schools, forcing people to depend on costly, unstable mobile networks. The restriction primarily affects Balkh, Kunduz, Badakhshan, Takhar, and Baghlan provinces, while residents in Kandahar, Herat, and Parwan have also reported disruptions, even though officials have not confirmed them.
