Pakistan, July 10 -- In the face of intense summer heat, taxi drivers in southern Afghanistan have come up with an innovative and cost-effective way to cool down themselves and their passengers. In Kandahar, where temperatures regularly exceed 40degC, many blue taxis now sport homemade air-cooling units strapped to their rooftops.
According to AFP, these makeshift cooling systems are designed by local mechanics. The units are connected to the car's battery and channel cool air inside the vehicle through window-mounted exhaust pipes.
