Pakistan, June 19 -- A fire that broke out here in a shopping mall located on Rashid Minhas Road, damaged 150 shops on the third floor of the building, while the first and second floors were partially affected.
According to spokesperson of the Rescue 1122, the fire which erupted in the early hours of Wednesday, was brought under control after four and a half hours with the help of 12 fire tenders.
Rescue 1122 spokesperson said that although the building had a fire alarm system installed, it was non-functional, which contributed to the spread of the fire.
The spokesperson said the security guards were present in the building at the time of the incident, and residents of the adjacent residential building were evacuated as a precaution.
