Pakistan, July 7 -- After the collapse of a five-storey residential building in Karachi's Lyari district on Friday, 27 people have been confirmed dead, and dozens more have been displaced, as rescue operations ended late Sunday. The tragedy has left survivors grappling with grief, homelessness, and uncertainty, while officials face criticism for delayed enforcement of evacuation orders.

The building had been marked as structurally dangerous since 2023, with a final evacuation notice issued in late June, according to Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani. Still, over 100 residents from 12 families remained inside at the time of the collapse.
