Pakistan, July 12 -- LAHORE - In a key step toward social welfare, the Punjab government has launched the "Maryam Nawaz Ration Card" scheme, aiming to provide food security to 40,000 mines workers across the province. Each eligible worker will receive a monthly subsidy of Rs3,000 to help ease the rising cost of essential groceries.

The scheme was formally inaugurated by Provincial Minister for Mines, Sher Ali Gorchani, at a ceremony organized by the Mines & Minerals Department. The initiative follows the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who has prioritized worker welfare in her administration's agenda.
