ZANZIBAR, Dec. 5 -- THE government of Zanzibar plans to increase the education sector budget from 864bn/- to 1tri/- to enhance the quality of education in the country.

President Hussein Ali Mwinyi announced this when opening the 13th General Meeting of the Association of Secondary School Head Teachers of Zanzibar (JUWASEZA), held in the Fidel Castro School auditorium alongside the inauguration of a new girls dormitory in South Pemba Region.

In his speech, Dr Mwinyi said that his government continues to take various measures to improve teaching environments, teachers welfare, and educational infrastructure.
