BUKOBA, July 16 -- THE World Health Organization (WHO) has donated medical equipment worth 112m/- to the Tanzanian Ministry of Health to support efforts in managing disease outbreaks in Biharamulo and Muleba districts of the Kagera Region.
The equipment was received by the Acting Director of Emergency and Disaster Management at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Erasto Sylvanus, on behalf of the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Grace Magembe. The handover is part of WHOs support following the recent outbreak of the Marburg virus in the region.
The donated items include hospital beds, bed linen washing machines, medicine stands, water storage and sanitation buckets for health centers, and advanced diagnostic equipment.
