Dar es Salaam, April 30 -- DAR ES SALAAM: THE US government through the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), announces nearly 1 million US dollars (about 2.7bn/-) in assistance to strengthen surveillance and control of the spread of mpox in Tanzania.
These funds will support the Ministries of Health for both mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar in their surveillance, detection and infection control efforts.
According to the statement released yesterday by the US Embassy in Tanzania, this funding, provided by the CDC, will focus on strengthening surveillance to detect emerging infection clusters and expanding infection prevention and control measures in healthcare facilities.
