NEW YORK, USA, July 11 -- AS today is World Population Day,  the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) said they feel sorry for the declining fertility rates, ageing and workforce shortages, while many still argue that the greatest threat to the planet is overpopulation and address five factors that affect the fertility rate.

According to the statement issued by UNFPA Executive Director Dr Natalia Kanem, It is often assumed or implied that fertility rates are the result of free choice, which is not true.
