KIGALI, RWANDA, June 5 -- THE Tanzania national womens cricket team got off to a flying start at the 2025 Kwibuka Womens T20 Tournament in Kigali, Rwanda, registering a commanding 105-run victory over Sierra Leone in the tournament opener on Tuesday.
Batting first, Tanzania posted an imposing total of 152 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs. Star of the match, Neema Pius, led the charge with a superb unbeaten knock of 77 runs, laced with ten boundaries.
She also contributed with the ball, claiming one wicket to round off a brilliant all-round performance that earned her the Player of the Match award.
Sierra Leone, in reply, crumbled under pressure and were bowled out for just 47 runs in 17.5 overs, falling short by a massive margin.
