DAR ES SALAAM, Oct. 23 -- THE Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) has issued a statement and made a public apology following a Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) train accident that occurred this morning in the Ruvu area.

It was reported that the accident occurred after the train went off the tracks while heading from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma.

In a statement released by TRCs Head of Information and Communication, Mr. Fredy Mwanjala, the corporation apologized to its customers for the inconvenience caused by the incident and announced that rail transport services have resumed and will continue as normal.

Earlier this morning, around 8:00 a.m., the accident caused a temporary suspension of train services along the route.
