DAR ES SALAAM, Aug. 4 -- THE Tanzania Human Rights Defenders Coalition (THRDC) has called on the ruling party, Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM), to ensure that the selection of Special Group representatives in Parliament particularly from Civil Society Organizations (NGOs) and persons with special needs, is conducted using well-defined criteria, rather than involving the partys entire delegate base.
Speaking to journalists today, August 4, 2025, in Dar es Salaam, THRDC Executive Director Onesmo Olengurumwa said that such an approach would help ensure the selection of qualified candidates with relevant experience and a track record of community engagement through civil society work.
