Dar es Salaam, April 11 -- TANGA: THE Tanzanian government has successfully sold a total of 450,000 tonnes of agricultural produce through the Warehouse Receipt System in 2023/2024 financial year, generating revenue amounting to 1.2tri/-.
However, in the following season, those sales increased significantly, reaching between 800,000 and 1,000,000 tonnes. This surge enabled the government to collect revenue of up to 2.9tri/-, an increase of 142 percent.
This was revealed today, April 11, 2025, by the Minister for Industry and Trade, Mr Suleiman Jafo, while opening a meeting of the Warehouse Receipt System Supervisory Board held in Tanga region.
