Dar es Salaam, March 10 -- ARUSHA: THE Government, through the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO), expects to save 32bn/- annually by purchasing electricity from Ethiopia via Kenya. This initiative aims to reduce power losses and ensure better electricity distribution in the Northern Zone.
According to a statement by the Government Chief Spokesperson, Gerson Msigwa, most of Tanzanias electricity is generated in the southeastern part of the country. As a result, it has to be transmitted over long distances, leading to significant energy losses. These losses cost the country billions of shillings annually.
