Dar es Salaam, Feb. 27 -- DAR ES SALAAM: The government plans to implement new strategies aimed at boosting the countrys revenue collection to 15 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango made this statement during the 2024 Tax and Investment Forum at the Julius Nyerere International Conference Center (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday, noting that from 2010/11 to 2022/23, the countrys tax collections have remained below 12 percent of the GDP.

Elaborating further, Dr. Mpango highlighted that most countries in the same low-middle income class as Tanzania achieve over 13 percent, including Senegal (18.7), Zambia (16.8), Ghana (14.1), Ivory Coast (13.9), and Cameroon (13.3).
