TUNDUMA, Dec. 13 -- THE Tanzanian government has unveiled urgent plans to reduce heavy trucks congestion at Tunduma, a major transit point for trucks heading to Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
During a visit to Tunduma in Songwe Region, the Construction Minister, Abdallah Ulega, directed the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) to conduct an immediate assessment of the border road with a view to expanding it.
The move comes after long-standing complaints from transporters and local residents about traffic bottlenecks that disrupt travel and trade.
