Tanzania, May 17 -- THE Tanzanian government is in an advanced stage of initiating the process of formulating a national space and satellite policy, as part of its plan to ensure the country owns its own satellite to support economic development, national security, and communication.
This move follows Tanzania's ratification of two key international treaties related to the use of outer space.
The announcement was made today, May 16, 2025, in Parliament in Dodoma by the Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Jerry Silaa, while presenting his ministry's budget estimates for the 2025/2026 fiscal year.
