DODOMA, June 13 -- THE government is set to launch a nationwide livestock vaccination and identification campaign on June 16, 2025, aimed at boosting animal health and opening up access to regional and international markets.
According to the Minister of Livestock and Fisheries Dr Ashatu Kijaji, the programme, to be officiated by President Samia Suluhu Hassan in Bariadi, Simiyu Region, targets more than 76 million animals, including cattle, goats, sheep, and indigenous chickens.
This vaccination campaign is part of the governments ongoing efforts to improve the health of livestock in the country, which is currently estimated to include 39.2 million cattle, 28.6 million goats, 9.7 million sheep, 108.2 million chickens, and 4.1 million pig...
