DODOMA, June 13 -- THE Tanzanian government has proposed amendments to the Insurance Act, CAP 394, to introduce mandatory travel insurance for visitors entering the country, for 44 US dollars – similar to the arrangement already in place in Zanzibar.

The proposal was presented today in Parliament in Dodoma by the Minister for Finance, Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba, while delivering the Governments budget estimates for the 2025/26 financial year.

According to Dr. Nchemba, the travel insurance aims to cover visitors against health emergencies related to travel, loss of luggage, costs associated with forced repatriation, or any other risks that may require a visitors removal from the country.
