DODOMA, June 13 -- THE Tanzanian government has announced its commitment to strengthening revenue collection by promoting the use of modern technologies for payments of goods and services, as part of efforts to advance towards a cashless economy.
The announcement was made today in Parliament in Dodoma by the Minister for Finance, Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba, while presenting the governments national budget for the 2025/2026 fiscal year.

Dr. Nchemba stated that in addition to encouraging digital payments, the government plans to improve revenue collection systems from sources overseen by various regulatory authorities. The aim is to enhance efficiency and minimize revenue leakages.
