TANZANIA, May 24 -- THE European Union (EU), under its Global Gateway strategy, has committed to provide 990 million Euros (over 3tri/-) to support the countrys energy sector, focusing on expanding clean energy access and enhance regional energy connectivity.

The fund will include direct contributions of 565 bn/- to support clean energy access and cross-border integration under the Global Gateways climate and energy pillar.

According to the statement released on Thursday during the commemoration of 50 years of EU in Tanzania, the key investments will include the Kakono Hydropower Plant, valued at 880bn/-, with an EU contribution of 106 bn/- as well as co-financing for the Zambia and Uganda interconnector projects, together valued at 1.8...
