DAR ES SALAAM, Feb. 9 -- The government has announced that it is in the final stages of officially signing head coach Miguel Gamondi to continue leading Tanzanias national football team, Taifa Stars, following his impressive performance at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament held in Morocco.

Speaking to journalists today, February 9, 2026, in Dar es Salaam, Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports Paul Makonda said Gamondi is expected to sign his contract at any time. The minister made the remarks after inspecting renovation works at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
