HANDENI, July 7 -- THE Tanzania Police Force, through its Traffic Division, has announced that it will not hesitate to take strict legal measures against drivers of motor vehicles, especially those transporting passengers, if found overloading beyond the permitted capacity.

The penalties include fines and even the revocation of drivers licenses.

This statement was made by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Joseph Mwakabonga, who is also the Head of Operations for the Traffic Police Unit, during a vehicle inspection exercise at the Segera Central Bus Station in Handeni District, Tanga Region.

 He emphasized that the primary goal is to ensure that the safety of passengers and all road users is fully observed.
