TANGA, July 18 -- TANZANIA and Kenya have taken a significant step toward strengthening diplomatic and trade relations by officially launching a cross-border fiber optic link.
The connection integrates Tanzanias National ICT Broadband Backbone (NICTBB) with Kenyas undersea cables in Mombasa via the ICT Authority of Kenya.
The inauguration ceremony took place in Horohoro, Mkinga District, Tanga Region. It was officiated by Tanzanias Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Jerry Silaa, who stated that the project will open up new opportunities for citizens in both countries to access affordable and reliable internet services, thanks to improved communication infrastructure.
