BARIADI, Feb. 24 -- THE Managing Director of the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO), Lazaro Twange, has conducted an inspection tour of ongoing power projects in Simiyu Region to assess their progress and ensure timely completion.
During the visit on February 21, 2026, Twange inspected the construction of the Imalilo Power Receiving and Distribution Substation as well as the 220-kilovolt (220kV) transmission line being built from Shinyanga to Simiyu.
Speaking after the inspection, Twange said the Imalilo substation project began in October 2025 and is being implemented by TANESCOs in-house experts. The project is expected to be completed in May 2026.
