Dar es Salaam, Sept. 17 -- THE message has been emphasized and revisited countless times, in Tanzania and elsewhere, that women (onto which broad category young girls fit) constitute a crucial component of the citizens of any country.

That is by way of putting it in an idealistic context. Considering that ours is an imperfect world, however, the crucial place of females in societies is not acknowledged on a satisfactory scale.

In some countries, as well as cultural formations, females are treated as virtual lower-class citizens.

Thanks to earnest sensitization, some people have shaken off long-held prejudices against females.
