Dar es Salaam, March 23 -- SUMBAWANGA: HEAVY rains accompanied by strong winds on Wednesday evening left about 125 people homeless after 29 houses were damaged in two villages in Namanyere town, Nkasi District, Rukwa Region.

The strong winds struck the villages of Mabatini and Mkangale, tearing off roofs and causing some houses to collapse.

The storm began around 6:00 pm and lasted for two hours, severely affecting both villages. Councillor for Namanyere Ward, Mr Nestrory Kaloto told reporters that the storm left 29 homes completely destroyed, displacing 125 residents.

“The affected families are temporarily staying with relatives, but they urgently need assistance, including food and basic supplies,” he said.
