DAR ES SALAAM, June 17 -- STANDARD Chartered Bank Tanzania marked World Environment Day (WED) with a beach cleanup at Rungwe Beach, along Kunduchi area, in Dar es Salaam, collecting nearly 100 bags of waste in a demonstration of its environmental commitment.
More than 70 bank employees and their families took part in the clean-up drive, which was conducted in partnership with the environmental organisation ‘Nipe Fagio. The drive led to the removal of close to one tonne of waste, primarily plastic and other non-biodegradable materials that pose significant risks to coastal and marine ecosystems along the Indian Ocean.
