Dar es Salaam, April 4 -- SOUTH KOREA: South Koreas Constitutional Court upheld the impeachment of Yoon Suk Yeol over his declaration of martial law last December. The ruling paves the way for fresh elections, which must be held in the next 60 days.

South Koreas Constitutional Court upheld the impeachment of Yoon Suk Yeol on Friday, months after the ousted presidents declaration of martial law threw the country into chaos.

Yoon was not present in court to hear the verdict.

In a nationally televised unanimous verdict, the courts acting chief Moon Hyung-bae said the eight-member bench upheld Yoons impeachment, finding that Yoons martial law declaration “violated” the constitution, did not not follow correct procedur...
