Dar es Salaam, April 14 -- SOUTH KOREA: South Koreas impeached president Yoon Suk Yeol denied the charges against him, calling his martial law decision a “peaceful message” to the nation. The country will now hold a snap elections on June 3.

South Koreas impeached president, Yoon Suk Yeol, appeared in a Seoul court on Monday for the start of his criminal trial for declaring martial law.

Yoon plunged the nation into chaos when he declared martial law in December. He was officially removed from office by the Constitutional Court on April 4 and South Korea will hold an early election on June 3 to fill the power vacuum.
