Dar es Salaam, March 23 -- DODOMA: THE Tanzanian government, through the Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC), has acquired 17 high-speed electric train locomotives with a speed of 160 km/h, which have already arrived and begun operations.

TRCs Director General, Masanja Kadogosa, revealed this during a press conference highlighting the corporations achievements over the four years of the Sixth Phase Government.

Kadogosa stated that TRC signed a contract with South Koreas Hyundai Rotem on July 14, 2021, to purchase the 17 electric train locomotives, which have now been delivered and started providing services as of December 2024.
