Dar es Salaam, April 8 -- ANGOLA: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has expressed her gratitude to the Angolan government led by President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço for its decision to support the Tanzanian candidate, Professor Mohammed Janabi, who is vying for the Regional Directors position for Africa in the World Health Organization (WHO).

Professor Janabi, who hails from Tanzania, is vying for the position following the death of the former WHO Africa Regional Director, Dr. Faustine Ndugulile, in November 2025. The election to fill the vacant position is expected to take place soon.
