MTWARA, Sept. 11 -- THE Russian government has expressed interest in utilising Tanzanias Mtwara Port as a strategic hub for exporting and distributing Russian products to neighboring countries, while also importing cashew nuts directly from Tanzania.

Russian Ambassador to Tanzania, Andrey Avetisyan expressed the desire during his visit to Mtwara Region on Monday, as part of efforts to explore trade and investment opportunities between Russia and Tanzania.

“Russia has many products that can be exported through Mtwara. This port also presents a great opportunity to bring Russian products here and distribute them not only within Mtwara but also to neighbouring countries,” said Ambassador Avetisyan.
