DAR ES SALAAM, Nov. 4 -- THE public has been urged to take immediate measures to curb gender-based violence (GBV) and violence against women before it occurs.

The call was made by an official of the Police Gender Desk in Kilimanjaro Region Mr Emmanuel Yohana when presenting a paper during a workshop on GBV media engagement held in Moshi recently.

The workshop was organised by a non-governmental organisation, Network against Female Genital Mutilation (NAFGEM).

"Since the beginning of the fight against GBV and violence against children, reasons which lead to these abusive incidents have been identified, what remains to be done is to make a follow-up to prevent the violence before it occurs," Mr Yohana said.
