DODOMA, Aug. 2 -- THE ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Parents Wing has successfully concluded its internal opinion polls to select candidates for Special Seats in both Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar, with some prominent figures failing to progress to the next stage.
Among those who fell short in the preliminary vote is singer-turned-politician and incumbent Special Seats MP, Khadija Taya (Keisha), who secured only 94 votes out of 708 valid ballots.
The seat for Special Seats MP through the Parents Wing on the Mainland, which attracted 18 contenders, was convincingly won by Catherine Joachim, who garnered 567 votes.
