Dar es Salaam, March 7 -- DAR ES SALAAM: THE Police, in collaboration with the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA), have arrested Baruani Hamis, also known as Majani, a resident of Kagera, and four others for using the internet to defraud retirees.

The suspects are accused of posing as pension fund employees and offering to help retirees secure their arrears.

The Dar es Salaam Special Zones Police Commander, Jumanne Muliro told reporters that tools used by the suspects to deceive people, including over 20 smartphones, computers, and SIM card registration machines, have all been seized.

Some of the suspects have already been brought at the Kisutu court for legal proceedings.
